Law degree from the University of Deusto, Spain (1972)

Master’s degree (LLM) in Maritime Law from the University of Southampton, England (1975-76)

Arbitrator for the Commerce Arbitration Tribunal within the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Bilbao (1990)

Arbitrator for the European Network for Dispute Resolution (ENDR) in the area of Euro Arbitration (2000)

Experience

Pedro worked for Maura & Aresti Ltd, ship agents and insurance brokers, in the vessel dispatch, canvassing, freight fixture and claims departments (1973-1975).

Pedro was founding partner with Fernando Meana Green of the law firm Meana Green Maura & Co and worked as partner in that firm (1978-2020).

Partner and Director of Lobeto Lobo Abogados S.L. (2020-2021).

Senior Counsel of Islaw Abogados (as from 2020).

Partner of Maura Arteta Abogados S.L.P. (as from January 2022)

Pedro has more than 40 years of professional experience and has intervened in numerous cases of Maritime Law; Maritime Administrative Law; Maritime Employment Law; International Negotiations; Litigation and Arbitration, both nationally and internationally. In particular, he has intervened in numerous passenger claims; personal Injury claims; salvage claims; cargo claims; charterparty disputes; marine insurance claims; also in claims against ship yards; claims relating to new ship buildings, repairs and rehabilitation of vessels.
